  Frequently Asked Questions  

1. With the rising costs of fuel, do I have to pay for my own fuel and maintenance? No, if you drive for a company , they provide fuel and maintenance. You simply drive.

2. Does United Truck School offer placement assistance? Yes, we work with major carriers to secure you a job immediately when you complete the training and obtain your Commercial Drivers License.

3. How long is the course? 18 days, classes run Monday through Friday 7 AM to 5 PM.

4. Do I have to sign a contract with a trucking company? No, United Truck Driving School conducts state certified training. You can work for any carrier you want without a contract.

5. Is lodging and transportation available? Yes, United works with its students to make you as comfortable as possible so you can focus on your training.

6. How often do I get home as a truck diver? Most companies allow drivers to get home on weekends. Some companies allow you to decide how long you want to stay on the road.

7. How much is this going to cost me? Tuition is $4995.00. In most cases, the company you work for may offer you tuition reimbursement.

8. What type of equipment do you train with? We use late model conventional tractor trailers. We train with 48 and 53 foot flatbed and van trailers to assure you get the truck driver training you will need to be ready for opportunities in the future.

9. Do you offer weekend classes? Yes, we offer flexible weekend training to fit our students busy schedules.

10. Are companies pet friendly? Yes, most of the trucking companies today are pet friendly.

11. Do the companies offer rider programs? It depends on the company's policy, but the majority do allow riders.

12. Do you train team drivers? Yes, we train and find jobs for team drivers. Team  truck drivers are in high demand.

13. With the cost of fuel today, how strong is the trucking industry? Do I have to worry about getting laid off? No, there is currently a shortage of truck drivers in the U.S. By 2012 most estimates show a shortage of truck drivers. Even with high fuel costs, products must be hauled and delivered. Trucking is the backbone of the American economy!

14. Do you offer refresher courses for people who have previously had CDL's? Yes, we offer a refresher program of 100 hours……..Must have a valid Tennessee CDL to qualify for our refresher program. Refresher tuition is  $3330.00.
